sports & laughs

The anniversary of Tony and my union is fast approaching.  Knowing it was going to be a BIG anniversary milestone (a prime number?), we've been planning a little getaway for months.  A couple weeks before we were like, "watch, something will come up and prevent this trip".  Nothing did, well, we didn't let it.  But we almost didn't go.  I'm SO glad we did!  My sweet, amazing, wonderful, beautiful, kind mother flew in to watch the kids and we drove off for a weekend to ourselves in Michigan!  I decided to only take cell pictures of the trip....
Driving through Cincinnati - We had lots of clouds that day but when we got to Michigan, it was gorgeous,  and we started seeing blue skies again.
We left early in the day on Friday and got there with plenty of day left.  It was rainy, and so cold compared to what we're used to this time of year- we loved it!  Tony saw the Maize & Blue deli on Man Vs. Food so we had to try it.  The only annoying thing about visiting a college town is having to pay for parking everywhere you go. ha.
Being the fans of Brian Regan that we are, I was perusing his site one day (months back, like I said) seeing if he'd ever tour in Kentucky.  There wasn't anything, but I saw that he would come out to Ann Arbor, Michigan. (Only home of our favorite college football team, University of Michigan. For Tony, he's been a fan going back to day one of his life.  Me, going on... well, since we started dating:)  Tony and I already knew that since we were less than 6 hours from Ann Arbor  we had to go to a game this season.  So when we realized my mom could come that weekend, we bought all our tickets.  Brian Regan is even more hilarious in person.  It was SOMUCHFUN.  And how cute is that theater?
Brian looked at me in the face multiple times.  Tony said the same thing, haha.  We were four rows from the stage... excellent seats!  After the show, it was even more freezing so I got my usual hot caramel apple cider and Tony got his usual hot chocolate. Then we walked around and talked about how if some creep lunged at us from one of the alleyways we'd just throw our scalding drinks at their face and squeeze the cup so the lid popped off.  Haha!  Never hurts to plan ahead for unfortunate events like that. (we were mostly joking... that probably wouldn't be necessary/happen).
We got to our hotel that ended up giving us a sweet discount cause they left us hanging about our ride arrangements to the game the next day.  "They don't do shuttles"... that's funny cause they said they did!  It ended up not mattering, driving ourselves was better and we got a discount!  lol
I look very uninterested in this picture but the game was AMAZING!  The stadium is the biggest college football stadium in the country- there were 111,106 people in attendance.  That's twice as many people as resided in my hometown growing up.  ha ha.  It looks like there were empty seats but there weren't- at all!  (That's the student section, and they all came late, lol)  The fans are also the coolest around.  There was a 6 year old boy in front of us who got us to become friends with him along with everyone else around us.  So every touchdown (so a lot) we'd high five all our neighbors including, and most especially, that kid. :p  Not only that, but the entire crowd did the wave- then a slow motion wave- and a fast wave!  When do you see that?  It was awesome!  Oh, it feels good to be Michigan fans.
crappy panorama app. lol.  Michigan annihilated Minnesota.  The final score was 58-0.  Tony has been to one other game before and they won 55-0 then, too!  We both decided it was imperitive we go to every game from now on.  (:  Everyone stands up when something good happens.. "curse my average height"!  Eh, sometimes I couldn't see.
It was a gorgeous, windy, cold but sunny day.  We were 9 rows from the field and everything was so fun!  We left with 5 minutes on the clock (so fairly early) and it still took us an hour and a half to get 5 miles to the freeway.  It was crazy!  We got home early enough that night to not be dead tired though.  Such a fun trip.
Brody (really my mom) got us these football cookies while we were gone.
It really was a dream trip.  Our marriage has been about a lot but it's had probably more sports and laughs than anything.  So, I thought celebrating it this way was very appropriate (:  I love you Tony!  I love being your best friend and you're right we do "make a great team" (said when we were singing a this song together (also above;) in the car driving to the hotel.  haha.  Good times.)

It was two days away from our kids but I still missed them terribly!  I missed my kazoo playin' dudes.
