More random stuff

I'm a little bummed... Tony and I had the opportunity to team teach the 5 year olds in Primary for the last couple years. But, today we were released. I was pretty excited at first because that means I can finally go to Relief Society. But now that we're out, I'm going to miss it! Looking back, although we'd occasionally get the comment, "Our sub last week was a lot of fun, usually this class is BORING!" or "is it time to leave, I really want to leave" the kids we taught, taught me a lot. And I frequently got a drawing or treat from them, which was always so appreciated. It makes me excited to have a little 5 year old of my own... soon enough.

It's true, I feel sorta obligated to take pictures of things people make for me... but only if it ends up in the trash. I'm glad though.

One student made us an ornament this year.

I'm really going to miss talking about Hannah Montana or Webkins. I felt so in the loop. jk. But yes, I'll miss it. I didn't always appreciate it- so that's the point of all this I guess...

Additionally...
The other night we went to the Mesa Temple lights, for the 3rd or 4th time. I can't get enough of them! Anyway, that was probably our last time this season and I'm sad about that!

This'll be my last post till sometime after Christmas so I hope you all have a wonderful and Merry Christmas!!! Go to the temple lights if you haven't already- they'll be down before you know it. There I go feeling sad again...

So about the race...

My mom is awesome, she's always teaching me and helping me stay healthy, and in shape. I can count on my mom to motivate me even 2,000 miles away from each other. She signed us up in January for this race; so for the past 7 months (since my doctor okayed exercise, after having a baby), I've been getting out and running to prepare myself. I'm convinced that had I not been signed up for it, there would've been days that I blew off exercise. So it was an excellent motivator (thanks mom).

This was before the race. Why we chose the parking garage for pictures, I don't know. It was early, and freezing. I only got 4 hours of sleep the night before! I couldn't sleep... but thanks to my mom buying energy bars and healthy drinks, I made it through all 10 miles.

My mom bought a disposable camera to take running with us. So the pictures aren't great, but at least we could take some!

One thing I love about the Tempe Iron Girl is the course, it's beautiful! I couldn't ask for better! (or easier terrain)...

I came in at 1:46:16, which beats my time in 2006. I think I would've done better had my knee not been killing me. I didn't buy a brace, although I've known I needed one but I've usually just ignored the pain. After the first 5 miles I had to take my ipod strap and wrap it around my knee for support, because it hurt so bad! Eh...

I have to say this year was my favorite one so far! I'm glad my sister ran with us! The only thing I heard complaints about was their "catered breakfast" afterwards ended up being store bought plain bagels (I got the 2nd to last one) and gatorade! They ran out of food apparently because there were so many girls running this year!

Out of 18 mother daughter teams my mom and I came in 8th. We were just minutes behind a couple teams. We usually run for fun but I think we're going to start to be more competitive. It think it's a lot more fun that way.

Anyway, you should do this race if you get the chance- we love it!

Randomness

Brody waved at us one night for the first time and we were able to get a little clip of it so here it is. My next post I'll tell you how my race went but I don't have the pictures yet. OH...and btw... it's official, Brody IS getting his two front teeth for Christmas. Ha!

Anyway, Tony and I went to our friends "Ugly Christmas Sweater" party and it was a lot of fun. So here's my awesomely ugly sweater. The collar sold me. Tony was a good sport and wore an equally nasty sweater!

I was feeling especially festive after that. Thank you puff paint and glitter! I just wish I had my mom's blinky light earrings to complete the ensemble.

Iron Girl Weekend

My sweet mom started a tradition two years ago where she flys in from Virgina to run the Tempe Iron Girl 10 mile race together. My sister Anne and her family were able to drive from California to visit too; so she ran with us this year. It was so nice to see them! I don't have any pictures of our race yet, I'll post them later probably, once I get them. Mom is in town, what does that mean? Lots of pictures.

Brody learned to clap a week ago...

Brody met Santa for the first time ever at our ward Christmas party- he didn't think much.

This is the only picture of me with my sisters family, pretty sad. I look a little distracted... but we had a lot of fun together! haha

Brody with his cousins

My mom and I put together a box kit ginger bread house right before taking her to the airport. I prefer that to homemaking it- less messy.

I love my family, I'm so happy they got to visit!

My number one fan

Brody! What a sweet baby. He is actually lulled to sleep by my horrible singing and still wants to play with me no matter if I've taken a shower already that day or not. I wish more people in the world were sweet and innocent like babies. Anyhoo... check out this grin it's the only picture I have so far where you can see all of his teeth. All two.

Brody and his first Christmas tree. I love this time of year... but let's not forget why we celebrate this month!
