Nesting

It's been a while since I was in the "nesting" phase. My baby is turning 12 this year. The nesting instinct, is the burst of energy women often get in the last few weeks of pregnancy that inspires them to clean and organize the house in preparation for baby's arrival. So that's not quite me... I am not pregnant. But next month I do have a surgery that I need to get ready for.

I have had dozens of surgeries in my life (give or take) but I have never had the recovery process that I am expecting this time around. It will be long and grueling, I hear. It will make me the most immobile I have ever been, and that scares the daylights out of me. But I will post about that life update in another post.

For now I wanted to hold myself accountable by making a list of all the things I need/want to do in the weeks before my surgery; before my body can't do anything for a really long time.

  • Fix my bike tire/get a tune up
  • Trim the front bushes
  • Cut up wood pile in backyard
  • Pick Pears (what few we got this year)
  • Paint Vents
  • Fall Hike in Mountains
  • Day date with Tony
  • Meal prep breakfasts for me
  • Family Pictures
  • Use the swim spa at least once a week
  • Gym with Tony once a week
  • Go on monthly date with one of my kids
  • Interview my kids, yes I still do that yearly!
  • Paint over garden boxes with this great sealer
  • Spray fruit trees with this Neem Oil solution
  • Clean the hamster cage
  • Cut back rose bushes
  • Pickleball once a week
  • Make a ton of bread/zucchini bread to freeze
  • Clean leather seats in car
  • Scrub my shower/bathroom
  • Deep clean fridge
  • Do my nails
  • Deep clean stove top
  • Decorate for Halloween
  • Attend the temple with my family
  • Rotate my closet from spring/sumer to fall/winter clothes
I have 20 days, do you think I can do it? I'll be crossing things off as I go. I started writing my list and then I decided to run out and start trimming the bushes that have been overgrown for the past 10 years that we've been in this house. I discovered some decorative rocks and a barrel planter underneath that I didn't know were there! Ha!
